We wanted a collection of tangible toy like characters that would be pleasing to watch en mass.
Structural and sculptural to really give punch when we started flinging them about and playing with gravity using Mass FX in 3ds Max.
Inspired by some great characters we created for a healthcare piece, we went for bright and simple designs with textures you just want to touch.
Seeing how the characters would react with different set ups, created some interesting results.
This was an organic trial and error process to get the desired look across each animation. It's a nice way to experiment with shape and form and you can use pretty much any model or shape.
We've pulled out some great crops and compositions when rendering too....
